Size : 500 sft
A leading fashion designer wanted a boutique designed for his collection at a upmarket mall. The space was very small, about 500 sft and surrounded by other shops on all sides. Hence the most important brief was to make the shop stand out among all others. Considering the constraints of the space, the decision to make the most of the wall space and use it for display and storage was taken. The colour scheme was restricted to whites and greys with only the ceiling being highlighted in purple, so that the colourful clothes could stand out against the stark background. The undulating false wall interspersed with floating shelves and niches, each having their own concealed lighting, was the main display space leaving the central part of the shop largely empty to avoid cluttering. A single wooden table in the center acted as a surface to spread clothes on as well as for storage. The curved wall ended into the circular changing room and the cash desk. The starkness and simplicity of the design enabled the colourful and often elaborate outfits to stand out and catch the passerby’s eye immediately.
